"Nationally, only 6 percent of minority organizations receive comparable funding from individual donors to organizations serving mostly white patrons, according to Grantmakers in the Arts [GIA], which evaluates how equally grants are distributed."
Disparity in funding for minority artists, as well as minority arts and cultural groups, is not just a city or state-wide problem, it's a national problem. DataArts and other organizations are studying the sector in an attempt to better understand this issue in order to strengthen those who are working towards a solution.
