Associate Director for Research
Madeline Smith is the Associate Director for Research at SMU DataArts. She brings over a decade of experience in applied research and consulting, specializing in mixed-methods research design, data strategy, and translating complex findings into clear, actionable narratives. Prior to joining SMU DataArts, Madeline was a Vice President at Slover Linett Audience Research (now Slover Linett at NORC), where she led applied research projects for arts and culture organizations across the country, and most recently served as a Data & Research Manager at Parliament Collective Intelligence, where she broadened her practice to include data strategy and bespoke data product development for nonprofit organizations. She holds a Master of Arts in Arts Administration and a Master of Arts in Modern and Contemporary Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute.
