Kaleta Doolin Postdoctoral Fellow in Workforce Diversity, Equity, and Wellbeing in the Arts

Annie Bares is the Postdoctoral Fellow in Workforce Diversity, Equity, and Wellbeing in the Arts at SMU DataArts. Prior to SMU DataArts, Annie was a Research Analyst at AEA Consulting and has worked in fundraising for the National Civil Rights Museum, ArtsMemphis, and the Soulsville Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee. She received a BA in English Literature from Rhodes College in Memphis. She completed an MA and PhD in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin, where her research and teaching focused on the relationship between contemporary literature, art, non-profits, and philanthropy. She also led the humanities research agenda of a National Science Foundation-funded multidisciplinary team that embedded arts methodologies into climate science visualization and communication.  Her writing on contemporary literature and culture has been published or is forthcoming in MELUS: Multiethnic Literature of the United StatesASAP/JournalJSTOR DailyThe NationContemporaries at Post45, The DirtThe E3W Review of BooksPublic BooksThe Journal of Cultural Economy, and Lux Magazine. She teaches a course in Cultural Policy in the Arts Administration program at Columbia University, Teachers College.
