Executive Director, Black Trustee Alliance
Diane Jean-Mary (she/her) is a strategy executive fueling organizations on the frontlines of social and cultural change, those working to build better futures. With over a decade of expertise advising the C-suite in culture and entertainment, she has guided corporations, nonprofits, and philanthropic foundations to simultaneously scale their businesses and their impact.
She serves as Executive Director of Black Trustee Alliance, an organization committed to advancing Black leadership in the arts. Diane oversees all aspects of BTA’s growth and organizational development—building and activating the Black trustee community, developing tools for effective leadership, and publishing insights and guidelines to inform the field at large.
Diane founded her strategy advisory firm in 2022, where she partners with social and cultural entrepreneurs in the areas of strategic visioning, brand strategy, and launch/growth strategy. In prior roles, Jean-Mary headed up cultural agency LaPlaca Cohen as Partner & Chief Strategy Officer, influenced corporate strategy in a first-of-its-kind music streaming analytics team at Sony Music Entertainment, and served as a Senior Management Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Diane earned a B.A. in Economics and Latin American/Caribbean Studies from Columbia University, with a concentration in Film Studies. She holds professional certifications in Positive Psychology (University of Pennsylvania), International Business (Georgetown University) and Narrative Filmmaking (FAMU Film School of Prague). She has been a speaker and facilitator at over 100 convenings on topics including the future of the cultural experience, shifts in the creative economy, and Black voices for the evolution of culture.
An avid advocate for equity in the arts, Diane serves on the advisory boards of Museums Moving Forward, Remuseum, and most recently, SMU Data Arts.
