What’s the Job All About?

Reporting to the Director of Development and working closely across the DataArts' Resource Development division, which comprises fundraising, business development, and partner services teams, the Institutional Giving Associate will develop original grant proposals, produce grant reports for gifts that support general operations and programmatic initiatives, as well as participate in new prospect identification and cultivation to expand revenue opportunities for DataArts


What Are Some of the Major Responsibilities?

  • WRITE: Write grant proposals, reports, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship correspondence, with an emphasis on gifts of $25,000 or more. Design and implement cultivation/stewardship materials for foundation, corporate, and government funders.
  • MANAGE PROSPECTS: Manage a pipeline of approximately 50 prospects, including renewals and potential new funding opportunities.
  • IDENTIFY NEW OPPORTUNITIES: Identify, qualify, and develop contact and cultivation strategies for new grant and revenue opportunities.
  • STEWARD: Provide customized and strategic stewardship for existing donors.
  • MANAGE REPORTING: Oversee grant management and reporting, maintaining a schedule of grant deliverables and gathering project and impact information to produce detailed, informative, and factually correct interim and final grant reports.


Am I Qualified for the Job?

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Master’s degree or the skills associated with the completion of a graduate program preferred.
  • Four to seven years of relevant, progressively responsible, professional grant writing and/or marketing/ public relations writing experience. Understanding of nonprofit organizations and their financial reporting practices preferred.
  • Excellent writing, editing and research skills, with prior experience in grant writing required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively in written and oral formats for a variety of audiences, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience and comfort with technology, including customer relationship or fundraising management systems, spreadsheet, database, web- and cloud-based enterprise applications.
